Size

A Puli is a medium-sized dog, just big enough to be a real playmate, but not too big to be intimidating.

Favorite playground

The Puli loves running and jumping, so a large garden or yard is its favorite playground!

Family-friendly

The Puli is like a furry ball of love, always cheerful and eager to play with you!

There is the dog, and there is the Puli," says the old shepherd's saying, which briefly and succinctly tells everything about the relationship between dogs and humans. The Puli is more than just a good friend; it is a lifelong companion with whom one can form a truly special bond due to its intelligence and loving nature.

Not only does it love its family, but it also takes care of them, watches over the children, and surrounds the elderly with touching, attentive kindness. At the same time, it is characterized by willfulness, tends to take charge, wants to dictate the timing of walks, and alerts to everything it dislikes.

It is extremely energetic, and its activity needs to be satisfied; otherwise, it becomes melancholic, even though the Puli is renowned far and wide for its cheerfulness and playful nature.

Shepherd and Herding Dogs

The Puli joined the ancient Hungarians, who once lived a nomadic lifestyle, as a herding dog. Previously, it lived a similar life on the endless steppes of Inner Asia. Its past is embedded in its genes, which is why it possesses its most important traits.

Its outstanding intelligence is reflected in its ability to keep a large flock together and guide it in the right direction. Its determined nature is also a result of its work, as it was tasked with commanding the herd.

Its protective instincts and love for animals are also deeply ingrained in its genes. The need for movement and excellent athletic abilities are a result of its outdoor upbringing, as is its high level of resistance to various conditions. Its devoted yet caring love for its owner and family cannot be traced to a specific corner of the ancient plains, but it is certain that this is perhaps the Puli's most important trait.
